All in a Day's Work: High Art to Pop Culture

Two papers to write. Two different courses. Two very different topics.

Manet vs. Monet, the transition from Realism into Impressionism.

(Monet, Water Lilies (The Clouds, 1903)

(Manet, Luncheon on the Grass, 1863)

From high art to low: Angie's Lara Croft. An example of Mulvey's male castration complex.

  5. guys feeling threatened by women, and feel that they will "castrate" them, so in order to neutralize the threat they fetishize women by making them into sexual objects, Think of movies where women are overly sexualized. i used tomb raider because angie plays the dominant male role but after every successful power "male moment", there is a crotch shot, or she wears really short shorts, or you see her in the shower. kinda interesting stuff actually
